Crescendo

This was a big weekend for Michael. Uncle Suz and Auntie Marty were up for a visit, and thankfully took some baby stuff off our hands (and out of our house). Plus, Grammy arrived in her RV with Tim and Becca in tow. And then, the highlight of the weekend was the matinee of 'Herbie: Fully Loaded'.

This was Michael's first movie in an actual movie theater, and it was special because it wasn't just some movie that he'd enjoy, but the culmination of all movies heretofore created. He had a great time, although it took awhile for him to grasp the 'no talking' rule. There were several children in the audience who were blurting stuff out (and kicking chairs), so he wasn't the only one. Sal and I enjoyed the movie too, perhaps because we weren't expecting too much. But the story was decent, as was the acting, not to mention that Lindsey Lohan is slightly better to look at than Don Knotts. With Michael's excitement before, during and after, and us knowing how much he enjoyed himself, it turned out to be one of those moments in parenthood that you don't ever forget. And possibly bring up during future conversations with his girlfriend.

Edit: if you're truly interested in being surprised at the end of the movie, when Herbie is neck-and-neck with the bad-guy NASCAR driver streaking toward the finish line, then;

a) You have obviously never seen a movie in your lifetime if you can't anticipate how it ends;
b)You shouldn't talk to Michael, because that's his favorite part of telling people that he saw the movie; and
c) Herbie wins. There, I said it. Deal with it.

Now all Sal and I have to do is control ourselves and not break the bank buying movie merch. Wish us luck.

Now that is the face of a happy camper. Was this taken after the movie, camping with Gramy or just Michael showing off his great toothless smile?
