Thomaston Parade
Because we really didn't have enough going on July 4th (hiking, sanding, bar-b-queuing, etc.) we decided to attend the Thomaston Fourth of July Parade. We had prime seats for all the cars, floats, guns, bands, guys on stilts, more guns, and Blueberry Queens. Michael spent most of the parade with his hands over his ears. There were loud guns, loud bands, loud cars, and loud Blueberry Queens. Enzo bounced up and down every time a band went by, and seemed oblivious, for once, to the loud noises. The highlight of the parade was when the onlookers saw men in camouflagee and started clapping, then came to the horrible realization that the parade participants were not an actual arm of the United States Armed Forces, but, in fact, the Maine Militia, and abruptly stopped clapping.
After the parade, we sauntered to the 'festival', which basically consisted of a few food stands and a Boy Scout dunk tank -- which, realistically, is all you really need to be entertained. I quickly devoured my requisite fried dough, while others ate fries and lemonade, and we all watched Boy Scouts get dunked. Michael, having never seen a dunk tank before (and this one looked straight out of the 1920's -- very safe), was tickled by the idea, and giggled with his hands over his mouth every time someone was dunked. He could have stood there all day watching. Enzo, on the other hand, was so amused he fell asleep.
This how Michael spent most of his day.
Guns.
Stilt-Guy.
This is about as close as Michael will get to owning a Hum-Vee.
Exhausting.
Enzo bumpin' and grindin' to 'America the Beautiful'. This actually a video clip, that I hope to have posted in the near future.
